If you know Adobe Photoshop, it is helpful to think of After Effects as “Photoshop Effects in Motion.” Everything that you learn in Photoshop can be ANIMATED in After Effects. This session is Part 1 of a multi-part series on tools, tips, and techniques in Adobe After Effects.
Part 1: Adobe After Effects Basics:
• Learn what Adobe After Effects can do and how it differs from Adobe Animate and some of its similarities with Adobe Photoshop
• Learn how to use the major panels in After Effects:
o Project panel
o Composite panel
o Timeline panel
o Effects and Presets panel
• Learn the different between Solids and Shapes and how to use them
• Learn how to create simple animations using key-frames
Other classes in the upcoming months will include:
1. Masks and Mattes
a. Animating Everything in Adobe After Effects:
b. Lights
c. Cameras
d. Actions/Objects (Vectors, Bitmaps, Texts, Masks, Effects)
2. 3D Rendering
3. Video Special Effect (VFX) (Rotoscoping, Content Aware Fill, Tracking, etc.)
4. Rendering a Composition to a video format for YouTube, etc.
About the presenter
Cornelius Chopin is an Accessibility Coordinator at Texas Health and Human Services. He received an Adobe Certified Instructor (ACI) title in Dreamweaver, Photoshop and Flash and teaches at night at several schools including the Art Institute of Austin. He completed his Master degree in Information Science and Learning Technologies (ISLT) from the Missouri University in December 2012 with emphasis on E-learning and Mobile Application development.
