A Smart Object is a separate reference file (e.g., LayerName.psb file) that ENCAPSULATES and PRESERVES bitmap or vector image data enabling a user to perform nondestructive flexible editing. A Smart Object is in essence another file:
- embedded in a Photoshop file, or
- linked to a Photoshop file

Cornelius Chopin is an Accessibility Coordinator at Texas Health and Human Services. He received an Adobe Certified Instructor (ACI) title in Dreamweaver, Photoshop, and Flash and teaches at night at several schools including the Art Institute of Austin. He completed his Master’s degree in Information Science and Learning Technologies (ISLT) from Missouri University in December 2012 with an emphasis on E-learning and Mobile Application development.
