Austin Adobe User Group Monthly Meeting

Many of the riveting visual effects seen in the psychological thriller, The Night, after its recent international release, were composited and executed by Austin VFX artist and compositor Jon Merrifield. Jon will demonstrate these scenes with ‘before’ and ‘after’ samples  He will explain how he used Photoshop and After Effects to aid producers who sought a more photo-realistic finish to a certain VFX shot. This shot was already completed in CGI yet lacked the flow and feel needed. In the second part of the meeting, we will break down how to bring Photoshop files and their editing capabilities into After Effects for animation and compositing. We will also cover some basic keyframe and tracking modalities.

Jon is also a CTT+ certified instructor and teaches After Effects and Premiere classes at Lumenbrite.

Community Involvement

Our volunteer meetings are now being folded into the last half hour of our monthly meetings. So, after networking, announcements, and our featured presentation, please stick around for an informal conversation about

  • How you can show off your talents in the group and gain more raffle tickets for prizes that include annual subscriptions to the Adobe Creative Cloud
  • How we can grow the audience for our meetings by going global
  • How to improve our online presence.
