April 14: How to create an accessible PDF form?

Accessibility Expert Cornelius Chopin will show the steps it takes to convert a Word form to a PDF form. Then he will show how to add the form elements to the form to make it accessible in Adobe Acrobat Pro. He will also explain some tips and techniques on how to streamline the conversion process.

About the Presenter

Cornelius Chopin is an Accessibility Specialist at Texas Health and Human Services. He received an Adobe Certified Instructor (ACI) title in Photoshop, Flash, and Dreamweaver and teaches at night at several schools including the Art Institute of Austin. He completed his Master degree in Information Science and Learning Technologies (ISLT) from the Missouri University in December 2012 with emphasis on E-learning and Mobile Application development.

Presenter Cornelius Chopin will demonstrate how to make key elements of a PDF document accessible using Adobe Acrobat Pro. These elements include:
  • Headings
  • Lists
  • Images
  • Tables
  • Links

March 14: Creating Accessible PDF documents

Learn to create accessible forms using Adobe Acrobat Professional. This class covers creating a “fillable” PDF form from a Microsoft Word Form. You will also learn how to FIX items on the front end to PREVENT problems on the back end, a phase I have coined, “Comprehensive mitigation prevent excessive remediation.”

Interested in learning what Adobe Acrobat Pro XI can do? Learn how to

  • Create PDFs – multiple ways (from another document, combining multiple files into one PDF or portfolio, and more)
  • Edit or add text or images and headers/footers
  • Add and comments as part of a review
  • Check for and improve document accessibility
  • Create interactive (fillable) forms that can be saved in the free Acrobat Reader using Acrobat Pro and FormCentral
  • Redact text
  • Create a secure PDF

About the Presenter:

Donna Blumberg has used Acrobat Pro to create fillable forms that can be uploaded to the web, accessible documents and more. She builds web sites and teaches classes in Microsoft Office and several Adobe products, including Acrobat.
